Chirripo National Park

Chirripo National Park, located in the Cordillera de Talamanca, features the highest point in Costa Rica (Cerro Chirripo, about 3,820 meters) and is the park with the strictest reservation system in the country due to its very limited daily quota — unlike most parks, here most visitors stay overnight inside the park; it is not a single-day visit.

Daily quotas:

Reservation: made online via serviciosenlinea.sinac.go.cr, with quota opening up to 6 months in advance — given the limited quota, it is advisable to book as soon as the desired date opens. To book lodging at the lodge specifically, use www.chirripo.org (maximum 4 entries per reservation).

Contact for problems with the reservation system: reservaciones.chirripo@sinac.go.cr.

Note: the exact entrance fee and lodging fee at the lodge, nor the minimum recommended equipment for the hike (it is a high-altitude ascent, lasting several hours, with strong weather changes), were not confirmed in this verification — confirm at sinac.go.cr or chirripo.org before planning the ascent.
