Diriá National Park

Diriá National Park is located in Guanacaste, near Santa Cruz — a little‑known dry tropical forest park compared to nearby beach destinations such as Tamarindo, useful for those already in the area looking for a nature hike without the crowds of the more famous parks.

**Hours**: every day, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

**Fees**: ₡1.000 for nationals/residents, $5 for non‑residents — among the lowest rates for national parks in the country.

**Access**: from Santa Cruz, take the road south toward Arado (12 km on asphalt) to the center of Arado, then another 6 km on a gravel road, well marked, to the park administration. **A 4x4 vehicle is recommended**, as you need to cross the Río Diriá and the road requires it.

**Reservations**: online, through the Área de Conservación Tempisque's own system (reservaciones.acguanacaste.ac.cr).
