Parque Nacional Guanacaste

Parque Nacional Guanacaste is located in northern Guanacaste, adjacent to Parque Nacional Santa Rosa (with which it shares administration under the Área de Conservación Guanacaste) — a large, lightly visited park of dry tropical forest transitioning to rainforest depending on altitude.

**Three sectors, each distinct**:

• **Sector Maritza**: about 650 meters above sea level on the slopes of volcano Orosí — forest transitioning from dry to wet, water springs and ravines.
• **Sector Pitilla**: 1 km south of La Cruz — predominantly rainforest here.
• **Sector Cacao**: on the slopes of volcano Cacao.

**How to visit**: unlike a park with direct entrance, visits to the Maritza and Pitilla sectors **are coordinated first from the Santa Rosa sector** — it is not a "arrive and pay at the ticket office" entry.

**Fee**: ₡1,100 for nationals/residents (confirm the current fee for non-residents directly, as no verified amount was found for this entry).
